About the City of Dublin

The City of Dublin was incorporated on February 1, 1982 as a general law city. At the time of incorporation, a Council-Manager form of government was adopted. The Dublin City Council is comprised of five residents who are elected at large. In addition, the Mayor is directly elected. The City Council is responsible for adopting legislation and establishing city policies.

The City Manager, who is appointed by the City Council, is responsible for enforcing ordinances, implementing Council policies and supervising the day-to-day operations of the city’s operating departments.

The City of Dublin serves its residents and businesses through the following city departments: Administrative Services, City Manager’s Office, Community Development, Fire, Parks and Community Services, Police and Public Works.

In October, 1989, city offices occupied the award-winning Dublin Civic Center. The 53,000 square foot center houses administrative and police facilities. The Civic Center also serves as a popular regional meeting center and is the site for both permanent and temporary expositions sponsored by the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation.

In addition to the Civic Center, the City of Dublin offers a wide variety of amenities including the award-winning Emerald Glen Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Dublin Swim Center, Shannon Park, the new Dublin Senior Center, Dublin Library and a number of neighborhood parks. Open space can be found in Dougherty Hills Park and on Martin Canyon Creek Trail. The City’s history is preserved at the Dublin Heritage Center with the original Murray Schoolhouse, Old St. Raymond’s Church and the Pioneer Cemetery.
